The elliptical light bulb gets its name from its rugby ball shape and is commonly used in street lighting, floodlighting, warehousing and other commercial applications where a high light output and efficiency is essential. As well as producing excellent brightness for very little energy, they are very long-lasting, especially the high-pressure sodium varieties. Please note that elliptical bulbs require specific control gear to operate properly.
